Identity

Glucosyl hesperidin (INCI: Glucosyl Hesperidin; also monoglucosyl hesperidin, hesperidin glucoside) is a modified form of hesperidin, a flavonoid abundant in citrus peel. Plain hesperidin is poorly soluble; attaching a glucose unit makes the glucosyl form dissolve and stay stable in water-based products — the whole reason the derivative exists.

It should not be confused with hesperidin methyl chalcone, a different hesperidin derivative common in eye creams, or with parent hesperidin itself — related molecules, but not the same ingredient.

What it actually does

As a flavonoid, it can act as an antioxidant, donating electrons to neutralise free radicals — the basis of its C for antioxidant support. A comparative in-vitro study confirms the hesperidin glucoside form scavenges radicals, while noting it is weaker than the aglycone hesperetin (Choi 2022) — which is exactly why the grade is an honest C rather than a B.

The hesperidin family is also studied for supporting microcirculation and the look of a more even tone, though the cosmetic evidence for this specific derivative is preliminary rather than settled — hence a second C, not a stronger claim. The antioxidant and circulatory mechanisms stay in the reference layer; the cosmetic claim is appearance-support only, and stronger "brightening" or treatment claims are firewalled at D.
