Identity
HMG — human menopausal gonadotropin, generic name menotropin — is a urinary extract of the two pituitary gonadotropin hormones FSH (follicle-stimulating hormone) and LH (luteinising hormone), purified from the urine of postmenopausal women (whose gonadotropin levels are naturally high). It is a genuine, long-established injectable prescription fertility medicine. It is not a cosmetic, has no topical use, and appears in this register only because it is scanned and searched from the same research-peptide and bodybuilding gray market as HCG and the other hormone-axis compounds.
Why it is graded the way it is
Two completely different uses sit under one name, and the register grades them apart.
The approved medical use (A). Under a fertility specialist, menotropin is used for ovulation induction and in assisted reproduction, and off-label for male hypogonadotropic fertility — supplying FSH/LH activity to stimulate the gonads. This is real, evidence-based reproductive endocrinology. It is also entirely a prescription, medically supervised activity, outside cosmetics and outside this register's topical scope.
The gray-market "PCT" use (F). On the anabolic-steroid gray market HMG is sold — often paired with HCG — to restart testicular function after steroids suppress the body's own hormone axis ("post-cycle therapy"). This is unapproved and unmonitored, and restarting the hypothalamic-pituitary-gonadal axis after steroid use is a clinical problem, not a self-dosing one. Injecting a urinary gonadotropin extract without supervision carries real hormonal and other risks.
The honest framing
HMG is a prescription drug, not a supplement, cosmetic or topical active — and it is WADA-prohibited for male athletes as hormone-axis manipulation. Its legitimate value is real but belongs entirely to a fertility specialist; the "testosterone booster / PCT" framing borrows a genuine medicine's credibility for an unvalidated, unsupervised use. Anyone facing steroid-induced suppression or fertility concerns should see a doctor rather than self-administer it.
